Miss Watson says that I have to practice my writing and to keep this journal. And if I gotta write, I might as well write about what happened last night.
I'd finally been 'llowed to go to bed after what felt like hours of sitting still. I was sitting on the edge of my bed wondering if I could risk a quick smoke when I heard a soft "meow" come from under my window. Tom Sawyer. I stuck my head out the window and gave a quick "meow" back and climbed out the window. I wondered what new adventures we'd have tonight.
I dashed quickly into the woods where Tom appeared by my side. We walked quiet through the woods. When we got far enough from the house we stopped. Tom leaned over and whispered in my ear, "I found buried treasure."
I turned and said, "But we's already got some! Shouldn't we leave some for other folks to find?"
"Nah! It's not that kind of treasure," and Tom ran off.
I followed wondering what kind of treasure he'd found. If it wasn't money or something like that, then what was it? By and by we reached the river. There was hardly any moon at all-- the water was black as oil. Tom and I scrambled down the bank to the edge of the water. There Tom reached behind a bush and pulled out two small shovels. He took one and I took the other. He pointed where and we started digging. We must've dug for hours. Finally my shovel hit something hard.
"Tom!" I whispered. "Hey Tom! I think I've got it." We set down the shovels and dug with our hands, so as not to damage the treasure. After a while I was able to pull out the first piece of treasure. It felt like an oddly shaped rock. I turned it every which way trying to see a sparkle or something. Nothing. I 'llowed it must've been the fact that there was no moonlight to make it sparkle and handed it to Tom and said, "What is it?"
"It seems to be a weirdly shaped rock," he said and handed it back. I put it on the ground next to me and kept digging out the rest of the treasure. All in all we dug out 22 of the weirdest shaped rocks in the country. Tom and I, we put the shovels back behind the bush and climbed back up the bank. When we reached the road we went to our houses-- Tom to the left and me to the right.
I walked back through the woods and clumb back through my window. I took off my muddy clothes and hid the "treasure" in my closet. As I lay down I thought to myself that it wasn't such a bad treasure
